Hurricane Season

Yikes...
Now this might be the one and only time anyone will ever hear me say this.  It's a good thing that I'm typing it because it might hurt a little bit if the words were actually coming out of my mouth.  This is the one time of year that I'm really glad that I live up north and far away from the sunny beaches of South Florida.  No, it's not because it's so hot down there and I might get a sunburn.  In fact I would rather be in the hot heat baking it up right now.  But when you start to hear weather reports of ah-hem (I hate to even say the word) hurricanes, the Greek Girl wants to run and hide.
Before you say anything, no I'm not a wimp when it comes to these things.  Sure, I like to play it safe and a hurricane party can be fun, that is assuming you like everyone involved.  What I don't like is the amount of flashbacks I have from watching Cartman getting eaten alive by ants.
What in the heck in the world am I talking about...??
Well, let me explain... It all started back in the summer of 2004 when my sweetie and I were staying in Palm Beach for an extended vacation with family when not one, not two but three hurricanes decided they would come and march across my birthday celebration.  My actual birthday is September 4th, we had to evacuate the day before September 3rd.  Every year for over 10 years now my Mom gets me a birthday cake made in the shape of Eric Cartman from Southpark.  That year was no different except this particular time she shipped it.
Marble cake, with real old fashioned Buttercream frosting, with a custard filling... Yummo!
That's right.  My mom overnighted via Fed-Ex a full-sized Eric Cartman sheet cake to me.  Now this is the funny part because there was a hurricane coming, picture this: here we are my sweetie, his mom, dad, grandmother our two dogs (at the time we only had two) me, and my bag of sneakers & vitamin waters all standing huddled in the foyer of their house waiting to evacuate.  But we couldn't do it before my cake showed up.  Meanwhile a category 3 hurricane was barreling down on us when suddenly in the distance the white truck shows up and the driver raced to the door carefully carrying my cake all safely packed into a tupperware container.
We drove off and evacuated to the other side of the state to stay at a friends condo and wait out the storm.  The cool thing was we were able to enjoy my birthday, play some cards, watch some movies, and thanks to my awesome mom even have my special cake.  Because it was so big we decided to take the leftovers back home with us two days later.  (Oh yeah, before I forget, since the package was guaranteed by 11am and he was 30 minutes late, my mom was credited part of the $75 shipping fee. - That's what I call a Greek Girl bonus)
After the Hurricane left the state when we got back to my in-laws house we found not only was it a total mess, lots of damage, but there was also no power.  So in order to save any perishable food we stored it all quickly in the fridge hoping some of the remaining cool air would prolong the decay until we could get things in order.  In Cartman went where he would be safely kept (or so I thought).
About 2 hours later I was getting the munchies from cleaning up the mess in all that heat.  That's when it happened, my life stood still and all went black as I opened my Cartman cake box to find the horror inside.  The entire cake was covered in itty-bitty-teeny-weeny ants eating him...!!!!!  I nearly passed out and haven't been the same since.
Now, when I hear about how Hurricane Isaac might ruin the RNC's week or how Louisiana and the neighboring states will have to batten down the hatches once more, all I can think of is that little cute cartoon face staring up at me gasping for his last bit of life as he was being devoured by the terrible Florida ants.
All kidding aside, I sure do hope everyone in the path of Issac stays safe and sound, and has plenty of rations all ready in an "ant free" zone.  I hope and pray that the storm breaks up and fizzles out before it can do any real damage to anyone or anything, and especially to anyone's birthday cake.  Hope you have a big smile and a beautiful day!

Celebrity Tattoos

Angelina Jolie, Celebrity Tattoo Pioneer?...
Inked, marked, tatted, whatever you choose to call it.  It seems like there's a lot of celebs running around getting tattoos these days.  According to my trusty Yahoo news headlines Leann Rimes & Reese Witherspoon are the latest ladies to get "inked" for love.  For those of you who may be wondering, yes the Greek Girl does have a tattoo.  Now before you go getting your pantaloons all in a wad, relax - no it doesn't say "mom", "dad" and no it is not the name of some long lost love named Brad.  (Good Gravy, give the Greek Girl some credit).  My tattoo is on my ankle, is small and quite unique ~ although it is about someone I love... my tattoo is of (cue drumroll).... Eric Cartman from Southpark.

My ink... this is how I roll :D
OK, why Eric Cartman you my be thinking to yourself?  I'll tell you why, because he's cute, and he makes me laugh.  Ever since I saw my first episode I was hooked.  There is just something about Eric that makes me laugh myself silly.  If I were a cartoon I'd probably date him (wait a minute I am a cartoon "Ava the Diva" & that's a blog I already wrote).  My mom has a special made birthday cake made for me every year of him.  Disclaimer, remember I love the show Southpark, do I think it is a show for kids? No...  It's a grown up cartoon that makes fun of everything and shows us how silly we can actually be at times about life.
I decided to put on my detective hat to find out how many celebrities have tattoos.  Is it just Rock Stars and Wrestlers or what?  So since the list would go on forever, I decided to put together the following random list of celebs who you may or may not have known are inked:
Dwayne Johnson aka "The Rock"
Christina Aguilera
Justin Bieber (didn't even know he was old enough to get a tattoo - even with parents permission, isn't there a law about that? well if not there should be - just sayin)
Rihanna
David Beckham
Angelina Jolie (times a bakers dozen - again just sayin)
Mike Tyson (now what the heck was he thinking on that one, seriously... that thing is like something you do when you loose a bet in a frat house initiation)
Charlize Theron
Johnny Depp
Lady Gaga
Heidi Klum
Eminen
50 Cent
Pink
As I said, this list is long and could go on and on, but you get my drift.  Why so much ink, one might ask.  I think it is because most actors/musicians are pretty passionate people and need an expressive outlet.  Some would say we artists have a tendency to go to extremes.  Yeah I guess that could be said.
I'm just glad I didn't choose to tat up some name I might grow to never want to see again somewhere that would be impossible to miss.  I for one am very glad I opted for a teeny little homage to one of my very favorite guys ~ Eric Cartman.

Celebrity Matchmakers

Ava the Diva and Eric Cartman - Love at first site
It's simple really.  We all want, need and crave to love and be loved.  Everyone of us, no matter how big, small, short or tall ~ it's a fact of life.  Yes, even if that person you love is animated...  No I don't mean like Charlie Sheen either where everything they do is overboard and extreme.  What I mean is more like Eric Cartman from Southpark.  He is my one true love.  Anyone who really knows me knows this about me, that I have a crush on the little round fat-head.  What can I say, just the thought of him makes me smile.
The one thing I actually do collect is Southpark stuff, in particular Cartman stuff...  My mom has a birthday cake custom made for me every year in the shape of Cartman. I have a Cartman tattoo on my ankle, about five Cartman dolls, a watch, autographed photos from the creators Matt Parker & Trey Stone, a painting that was made for me of all of the southpark characters... hmm let me see what else?  I have pajamas, t shirts, cards, DVD's, oh gosh... a lot of Cartman stuff lets just put it that way.
Yes I know, he has a potty mouth (disclaimer: it's a grown up cartoon ~ I never said it was a show for kids people).  Sure he eats bad.  Okay he is perpetually stuck in elementary school and I know he does still live with his mom.  Not unlike lots of guys out there...  at least this one makes me laugh.  ;D
So, knowing I can't literally be with the little animated bugger, so I guess the next best thing would be to set him up with none other than "Ava the Diva".  So here are a few questions asked before they actually meet and go on their first date:
1. What draws you to Eric Cartman?
Well, obviously the artist ;o)  But otherwise I really like his cute voice and round face.
2. Why should Cartman choose you to be his girlfriend?
Because I am cute, he loves to sing and I have him tattooed on my ankle.  We are perfect for each other.
3. You love to workout and he loves to eat cheesy poofs.  Is this a conflict for you?
Like they say opposites attract.  He can be my yin and I can be his yang.
4. Where would you want Eric to take you out to eat on your first date together?
The lunchroom duh!  I would love to meet all his friends especially Chef!
5. What adventure would you want to go on with Cartman as his girlfriend?
I would want him to be my partner on "The Amazing Race" so we can travel the world together.  We can explore caverns, leap from tall buildings, race through traffic and win a lot of moola.
In the end, I know no matter what Eric Cartman and Ava the Diva would be a true Celebrity Match made in Heaven.  By the way, if you haven't seen Ava the Diva yet go check her out on my Youtube channel.
