Landslide

Don't complain unless you are in the game. Vote Nov. 5, 2013.
Don't complain unless you are in the game.
Vote Nov. 5, 2013.
So I am doing my thing and minding my own business.  Okay who am I kidding?  I was searching the internet looking for some new deals on Kohls.com and printing coupons for my favorite things like Dunkin Donuts and Zone Bars.  That was when I came across this story about this upcoming election and how in one state in particular they are calling for a Landslide.
Now as you know being Greek, and since us Greeks created politics I just had to check out what in the heck in the world were they talking about?  See I was confused because like everyone else I have been mostly hearing about Obamacare and all the lying and misleading that went along with that bill of goods.  So I read on.
Low and behold I found myself actually enjoying the fact that there is a very strong possibility that Chris Christy is going to win the New Jersey Gubernatorial election.  Now I know there are a lot of "Christy-Haters" out there, and he's not this Greek Girls favorite, there a lot of things about him I don't agree with. However, it is far better than the alternative.  This got me to thinking "This could be a good thing."  Well of course anytime I see someone who is on the conservative side of things winning it is a good thing.  But this is different because I was reading it in a mainstream media news article on Yahoo.  What's more is that the article went on to discuss how there are a number of very decisive elections being held all around the country.
This is the part that got me.  The article talked about how few people actually pay attention to the local elections and only vote in the Presidential election.  The point was and is that if we as a people, you know, "WE THE PEOPLE" (ah-hem selfish plug for my song) would actually unplug from Kardashian's and the renaming debacle of the Washington Redskin's and actually pay attention to the things that really matter, I wonder where our country would be.
What am I talking about?  Well people listen up.  If you are like me and you are sick and tired of all the nonsense going on around us such as Obamacare and all the mess that is going on in Washington DC, we need to do something.  "What's that Greek Girl?  I need to do something?"  Yes, it's called get your butt up off your sofa this Tuesday, take a 1/2 hour shorter lunch break, go in to the office a little earlier or come home just a little later and get over to your local voting booth.

It is time we stand up, time we speak out, time WE THE PEOPLE take our country back and stop allowing the bureaucrats and political elite decide what is right and wrong for us and our families.  For crying out loud even God Himself said, "If my people who are called by my name and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land." - Isaiah 43:7.
So this Tuesday, if you haven't already cast your ballot through early voting or absentee ballot please get out and exercise your right and take part in helping restore our amazing and God-given country.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble

Well here we are on the edge of the last Presidential Debate.  Who, when, where, why, What?...  You mean you are paying attention to sports but didn't know the Last Debate is less than 24hrs. away?  Whatchutalkingaboutwillis?....
The debates are like sporting events to those of us who are immersed in Politics.  So that would make the very last Presidential debate the Superbowl.  In case you hadn't noticed Greek Girl is up on her politics.  Hello... I'm Greek, remember we invented Politics, and acting and all kinds of other things that benefit society on a daily basis.  It's true, google it. ;)
No matter which way you roll, and we are all entitled to think what we want and vote how we want.  What is important to me is that you do actually get off of your duff and vote.  Remember good men and women fought and died so we could have the freedoms we have here in America today, and one of those very important freedoms is to exercise that right to vote for our elected officials.  Just think there are countries in the world where people would love to be able to have a say in what happens in their governments.  So lets not take for granted our sacred right.
One thing I do have to point out though is I think the debates would be a whole lot more productive if the Moderators would actually do their dang jobs and Moderate, vs. lead or direct.  Can anyone say Candy Crowley?  Seriously did she make anyone else itch or was it just me?  Good grief.  You would think she were running for President.
Let's take a trip back to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary to make sure we know what we are talking about shall we?

Definition of MODERATOR

1 one who arbitrates : mediator
2 one who presides over an assembly, meeting, or discussion: as
a : the presiding officer of a Presbyterian governing body
b : the nonpartisan presiding officer of a town meeting
c : the chairman of a discussion group
3 a substance (as graphite) used for slowing neutrons in a nuclear reactor

Guess ole' Candy forgot about that part in section 2B - you know the "non-partisan" part.  Lets just hope that Bob Shieffer takes his role a little more literally, serious and professionally.  Our country would benefit from you know, journalists who actually reported the news for a change regardless of whom it may hurt in the polls.

Anyway if you want to know where to find Greek Girl at 9pm EST on Monday night, I'll be on the couch, with my slippers on, popcorn and Dunkin's in hand, surrounded by the fur-kids. (now there are still 5 temporaily until "Pepe-laden" see last weeks blog finds a home) I'll be there with the fur-kids, yelling at the TV, ranting on my twitter account, and I'm guessing cursing in Greek.

Hope you enjoy the debate, have a beautiful day!

We The People

What would they be thinking now...?
There's an election coming don't you know? What? You mean you didn't know the election for President is only 100 days away... Whatchutalkingaboutwillis?  All joking aside, this is kind of a big deal.  At least in my coconut it is anyway.
I mean I know it seems that most people in our culture are too afraid to offend anyone, so they tend to go by the old rule don't talk about the three dreaded topics: Religion, Sex and Politics.  Or I often hear people say "the news is too depressing, so I just don't watch it."  Maybe that explains why more people seem to know what Kim Kardashian was wearing last week when her "scared face" pic hit twitter with her bo Kayne West, what stars are coming next season on "Dancing With the Stars", the contestants on "American Idol", or most importantly that Kristen Stewart just broke Robert Pattinson's heart - gasp - can you imagine.   Seriously my friends, this just makes no sense to me.  In fact it is almost enough to make my noggin explode.
I don't really care what political side of the isle anyone leans towards.  We're all free to think and believe what we want.  The fact of the matter is good men and women fought and died for our freedom.  They fought and died so we could have the freedoms we have, and that includes the freedom to vote.  It's maddening to see so many in our culture today with their heads pretty much buried in the sand when it comes to our political process and what is actually going on in our country.
To me that is spating in the eye of our founding fathers.  Our country was intended to be "By the People" and "For the People".  But how can we have a political process that works if half of the country knows more about show's like "Toddlers and Tiara's" and yet has no idea that US Taxpayer Funded Aide was recently given to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt in the amount of $1.5 Billion Dollars (yes I said Billion with a B).  Why are we giving "foreign aide" to Egypt anyway, because last I knew there were plenty of places right here in America that hard working American's tax dollars could have been much better spent.  Although that's probably a whole other rant altogether.
What I'm saying is no matter who you are or what your personal beliefs are, all of us, we are All Americans.  We should all at the very least pay attention and educate ourselves as to what is going on in our nation.  I don't mean just listening to the news because Lord know they all have their own agendas.  What I mean is, listen to and read multiple sources of information.  There are plenty of places to go to gather information and decide and digest the information for yourself.
It is our duty as free Americans to educate ourselves on the candidates, and what they stand for.  Not listen to what is being fed to us by either side of the media, political slogans, platitudes or negative campaign ads.  It is our duty to know ourselves, our values, what our own individual belief systems are, and vote accordingly.  Then and only then will we have a political process that works the way it was really intended for the People and By the People.  Until then, we have a Washington that is broken, politicians who stay in office for way too long in many cases, and a public who is not taking control of the very freedom that was laid out for us so very long ago.  This saddens the Greek Girl...
That's why I wrote my song titled "We The People".  Because I love my country, I value my freedom, and I respect the men and women who died for my right to vote.  So I'm on a mission to share my song with every American before the coming election.  Please visit   www.missionwethepeople.com and help me to "share" the message of the song and video with Americans everywhere by visiting and sharing in all the usual places.  Because at the end of the day whatever you believe, we are All Americans and we are All "We The People."
